Dear colleague,

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the public consultation for the EuroTEST Practical Implementation Guidance for Blood Borne Virus Opt-Out Testing in Emergency Departments in Europe.

The implementation guidance aims to support European countries in implementing and scaling up Blood borne virus (BBV) opt-out testing in emergency departments (EDs) outlining necessary aspects to consider informed by existing experience from European pilot projects.

The guidance is developed by EuroTEST (www.eurotest.org), a pan-European collaboration working to ensure timely access to testing and care for individuals living with HIV, viral hepatitis, STIs, or tuberculosis. An expert advisory group has overseen the development and content of the guidance.

The purpose of this consultation is to present the draft implementation guidance and receive input and feedback on the recommendations outlined in the guidance document. Received comments will be analysed, discussed and incorporated in the final implementation guidance document. Your expert input will be important to ensure that the final guidance is applicable across diverse healthcare settings in Europe.

The final guidance document will be presented at the HepHIV2026 conference taking place 2-3 November in Dublin Ireland.  A workshop focused on implementation of BBV opt-out testing in EDs in Europe is planned to take place in conjunction with the conference.
